Brewing Hope: Transforming Lives at Solai Nyakinyua Primary School
Life on coffee farms is challenging. Smallholder farmers earn barely enough to meet basic needs, leaving little for their children's education.
At Solai Coffee, we're changing this reality. Through our farm-direct model, we brew change and uplift communities.
In partnership with Acts of Wisdom, led by Brad Otto, we share a vision of education and empowerment. Together, we ensure that every Nyakinyua Primary School student will have access to quality education, nutrition, and essential learning resources.

Why the School?
In 2018, on the night of May 9, tragedy struck Solai: a private dam burst that swept through the fields, destroying homes and claiming lives in this small coffee-growing community. Among the devastation was Nyakinyua Primary School, a government school founded a decade earlier for the local coffee farmers who dreamed of an accessible education for their children.
Yet, despite the loss and destruction, the spirit of Nyakinyua Primary remained unbroken. Built on the determination of coffee farmers, the school refused to fade. Against all odds, it stood as a beacon of hope, a testament to a community’s resilience and unwavering commitment to education.

The Collaboration & Impact
Solai Coffee recently visited Nyakinyua Primary School to support its students and staff. With the help of our Solai Coffee community we raised over $4,000 to provide essential resources, ensuring students have the tools to learn and thrive.
This visit reinforced our commitment to empowering communities, creating sustainable change, and building lasting relationships.
Every contribution tells a story—one of hope, progress, and opportunity. Donations from kind-hearted individuals and organizations have played a crucial role in shaping the future of our students and empowering the community. From enhancing educational resources to improving infrastructure, every gift has a lasting impact.

Award ceremony
Thanks to generous donations, Nyakinyua School has been able to provide students with stationary, and essential learning materials. These resources have enhanced the quality of education and allowed our students to excel academically.

Sanitary towels and undergarments
With your support, we provided essential sanitary towels, ensuring young girls can attend school with dignity and confidence. This vital step helps combat period poverty and promotes better hygiene for a brighter future.

ICT Equipment
With your support, we provided a laptop, desktop computers, and a printer—essential tools to empower the staff and enhance learning. We also learned of the huge gap in technology for the school and need for a computer laboratory.
Special Needs Support
We met two remarkable students whose resilience truly stood out during our visit.
Sharom Njoki, at the time, a sixth-grader but disadvantaged by the fact that she is deaf and mute but attending a normal school not necessarily to learn but to find her purpose to go to school with other regular kids. With the right support, she dreams of excelling in school and achieving her goals
Jane Nduta, also, a sixth grader then, living with albinism and visual impairment, continues to pursue her education with courage. She requires protective gear and specialized support to thrive in her learning journey.
Sharom and Jane, deserve the support they need to reach their full potential.

Meet Our Partner
Empowering Communities with Acts of Wisdom
At Solai Coffee, we believe in creating lasting impact beyond the cup. That’s why we’ve partnered with Acts of Wisdom, an organization dedicated to providing quality education in underserved African communities. Led by Brad Otto, Acts of Wisdom goes beyond traditional aid by listening, engaging, and implementing sustainable solutions tailored to each community’s needs. When we launched a campaign to support Nyakinyua Primary School, Acts of Wisdom saw an opportunity to expand their mission to Kenya and became one of our largest contributors, helping us raise over $4,000 to provide essential resources for students.
As Acts of Wisdom takes the lead in supporting the school, Solai Coffee remains committed to raising funds and empowering the local farming community. Through our white-label coffee program, we continue to support Acts of Wisdom’s broader mission while ensuring coffee farmers
also benefit from sustainable growth. Together, we are proving that education and economic empowerment go hand in hand, fostering hope for future generations. Learn more about our impact at solaicoffee.com/impact. Discover Acts of Wisdom’s work: actsofwisdom.com
